Happy Kids’ Academy follows a bilingual curriculum, working on the basis of language immersion method, that is, immersion in the language. The English-speaking teacher works with children half of the day. The teacher accompanies children during methodology classes, while they are having fun, while they go for a walk, having a meal, artistic and movement activities.
Language immersion, in English “immerse” = dive, is one of the methods to work in bilingual Institutions for children. It involves introducing a child into the world of a foreign language, without explaning and translating in their native language. The method was named on the basis of a dry way of learning – the children are immersed in a foreign language. Children learn the language intuitively, they watch the surroundings and a situation carefully, the description of which they accept in a natural way in a particular language -they observe and try to remember. This process is analogous to learning their mother tongue.
The immersion method is considered to be the one, which has the greatest effects in teaching children a foreign language. Surrounding the child with a foreign language influences their effectiveness and, what is more important, using the language as an instrument, Which serves for learning about the world, rather than treating the language as an objective of teaching in itself. The children are not focused on the repetition of words and phrases, but a foreign language is unconsciously absorbed during the process of learning, eg. By getting to know the changes that occurs in nature when spring is coming. Interestingly, in this way, children have the opportunity to absorb much more vocabulary than during traditional classes.
We are applying the bilingualism program in cooperation with the school ‘Junior English Schoo’l launched under the auspices methodical Pearson and Longman Education Poland.
It is one of the largest publishers of Britain’s vast methodical experience, which specializes in the development of textbooks and materials for teaching English.
During many years of activity, they have prepared a range of course materials for children, based on the developmental psychology of children and pedagogical assumptions appropriate to their stage of development. The same curricula developed by Pearson and Longman, are being used in our school, integrated with the program for preschool education, primary education and school education, and as such have been approved by the Ministry of Education.
Patron also means additional methodological workshops for senior voice-over and a number of additional teaching materials in which classes are conducted to be more colorful and more attractive to children.
